Sailing Back in Time

One day, my mind was sailing
down the river, and daydreaming
about being in a kindergarten.
Back to where time began,
in a colourful garden of fun.
Where nursery rhymes were real,
and friendly fairies lived
in the neighbouring field

Back then, love was homespun
And given freely to everyone

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Such lovely verse. It called me to realize the only thing I really remember was Billy Stutz’s family store/home burned, and half of his family died in the fire. Oh, that and making a wreath out of pasta, glue and glitter. I think I must have grown up way too fast.

  2. Such a beautiful, delightful, creative, imaginative poem! 🙂
Very nostalgic for me, too…in my teaching career I taught Kindergarten kids for decades. My joy! I loved it! I loved, also, that I could give them a safe, fun, happy, peaceful, wonderful learning environment…and a good start to their education. 🙂
    Your photos are fabulous!
    Your song choices lovely!
Such a wonderful trio posting, Ivor!

  3. What a great poem, Ivor. And I love the AWolNations cover, it must have taken ages to put it all together.
Unfortunately, your pingback didn’t work. I had the same problem yesterday. I spent over an hour deleting the links and starting again. I assumed the problem was Nan’s Farm because others created pingbacks without problems. If you can be bothered with it, try copying this link: One Day Prompt. 🙂
