Thanks For the Dance, or My Foot Went Numb (a Rhyming Tu-aiku)

Thanks For the Dance, or My Foot Went Numb (a Rhyming Tu-aiku)

My fingers are thumbs
I cannot pick up the crumbs
Nor pluck the ripe plums

My right foot went numb
Her eternal dance did come
Life is a hum-drum

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Losing the one we dance with, is never easy, but, we eventually, will find our ways back to the, dance floor, maybe, first, by ourselves, then, with that someone else, and we will get, used to, dancing, alone, on our own, hopefully…

β€œYou will lose someone you can’t live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved. But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn’t seal back up. And you make it through. It’s like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly…that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limp.” – Anne Lamott
