An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
The Horizon’s Encore (a Tanka)
Over at Weekly Prompts, the Weekend Challenge is the word Silhouette. To visit their fabulous site, please click on >>HERE I have not mentioned the word ‘Silhouette in my poem, but after sunset, the sky is covered in colourfull ‘silhouettes’.
The Horizon’s Encore (a Tank)
Half an hour after The sun’s disappearing act The horizon’s lights Refused to exit the stage When Twilight called out for more
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Thank you for appreciating my photos and my words, a rather easy looking 31 syllable piece that took me most of the night to get right β¦ with no pronouns or adjectives!! β¦ I think I did ok, Nancy πππ₯°
Ivor, I really like βrefused to exit the stageβ β it makes the horizon feel like a performer with its own will, which gives the scene a kind of quiet defiance that I find moving.
I love those images that accompany your lovely poem, Ivor. Unfortunately, your pingback hasn’t worked. I have no explanation for this; we seem to have plenty that were successful, but I thank you anyway π
Hi Sue, Iβve no why the pingback doesnβt work. When I click on the link In my post, it takes me to your site okay, but but I donβt appear on the list of participants β¦ Iβve redone the link, but no success β¦ last week, it worked! β¦ Iβm at a loss πππ
Hi, Carolyn, I’m so pleased you enjoyed my “Tanka” … it was a challenging 31 syllable task, without any ‘pronouns’ or ‘adjectives’ … I wanted the horizon to take centre stage … πππππππ

Gorgeous horizon and twilight photos! Lovely, smile-bringing poem! Beautiful song! π
I hope the horizon will shine it’s lights and linger on stage many more nights…as we cry “Encore! Encore”! Because those lights and their colors bring us such serenity and joy! π
