Today’s Throwback Friday poem is an odd collection of anecdotes from my hospital bed, written in December 2018. After I had just suffered a ‘minor’ stroke, and these were the jumbled thoughts that were tumbling out of my tired and confused mind …
Odds and Sods, Spots and Blots
Lazy Bones
Cordless phones
Garden gnomes
Overhead drones
Windowless homes
Creaks and moans
Lazy bones
Pain
Pain is like the rain
It comes and goes
Heavy and light
A Lie
Itβs a lie that I donβt cry
Itβs a lie that I passed you by
Itβs a lie that I never tried
Itβs a lie that Iβll never die
Mirror
Mirror, mirror, on the wall
You showed me how to stand tall
Again, itβs time for your call
Judge
Iβm neither a judge
Nor a dealer in sludge
Iβd rather eat some fudge
And give my side of life a nudge
Even Though
Love is all above thee
Love is a blanket of autumn leaves
Love showers us with glee
Love is everywhere, to feel and see

Oddly enough I felt compelled to keep myself active and writing was a good exercise for my tired brain πππ

Yes, I can understand that. I’ve been in enough hospitals to know the feeling. π₯°ππ₯

It’s true. It’s difficult to get any quality rest while hospitalized. π«©π΄

You need patience, resilience, respect, and appreciating/understanding of those around you and the busy nursesβ¦π€ππ

Absolutely! There’s so much going on, so many patients to care for, and only a certain number of nurses there to handle it all. We have one daughter-in-law who’s a nurse and another who’s a doctor; I know how incredibly busy they are. π₯°π©πΌββοΈπ₯
