A Mother’s Sacred Shroud

There is a narrow blue causeway
Below the evening’s wintry clouds
And twilight’s golden sunbeams
Are reaching outward
Like a Mother’s sacred shroud

I am feeling humble and proud
That Mother Nature’s grand projector
Allowed me to witness silently
Her ceremonious celestial splendor

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank you for your lovely words, Violet … yes, β€œMother” could be interpreted as the universe, or whatever fits the reader’s own thoughts … God, Mother Nature, your own Mother, or the Earth 🌏

    1. Oh yes, Ray is one of best, his spellbinding soulful voice is amazingly infectious and captivating πŸŽΆπŸŽΆπŸ’•πŸ˜πŸ“– … they were extremely fortunate images, as those sort of sunbeam projections on the clouds only last a few minutes … and thank you for your kind words about my poem, Nancy πŸ“–πŸ˜πŸŒ

  1. Fabulous photos! Beautiful poems! Both of them! And always a good day for a Mr. Lamontagne singing! πŸ™‚
I love the image of Mother Nature’s shroud of love and protection, Ivor! We are so fortunate Mother Nature cares so much about us! We should care more about her!

    1. Oh, I was so fortunate to capture those amazing images … such sunbeam projections only last a few minutes (like rainbows) … and of course, Ray’s amazing song, seemed so appropriate for my poem …. Thank you very much Carolyn πŸ€—πŸ˜πŸŒπŸΆπŸŒžπŸ’•πŸŽΆ

  2. Ivor, your gorgeous photos are captivating. Your words beautifully reflect a mother’s love, whomever or whatever it may be. And Ray’s song is a perfect choice. πŸ’—
