Moon Crossing (a Tanka)

Moon Crossing (a Tanka)

I see the white moon
Crossing the afternoon sky
I hear the moon sigh
“Why do I shine so brightly?
When my light falls on dark eyes”

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

      1. Do- I a genuinely interested. Our horizon is wonky- as in the sun never varies that far from it- so we never get both in Alaska- but I have seen it before when I lived in various states in the lower 48

  1. Breathtaking beautiful photos! πŸ™‚
Powerful poem, Ivor! We human-beans need to be as good at loving, and caring about, each other and loving, and caring about, nature, as the moon is at doing it’s important job for all of us!
Please keep shining brightly, Moon! We appreciate you! πŸ™‚
Such a lovely song by Beluga Lagoon! I listened to it twice. πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you for your heartwarming words this morning, Carolyn … it’s only 3’ C at the moment and we are staying in bed for a while ,,, it’ll be a full moon on Saturday and I love how the moon grows in prominence and brightness, as if it’s eminently preparing to transmit an announcement of noteworthiness that we all should incorporate into our daily lives … β€œbeware of the dark times and share your inner glow with mankind and nature … πŸŒ–πŸŒπŸ€—πŸ˜πŸΆπŸŽΆ

  2. This is so lovely! On occasion I see the white moon too. Whatever its color, I don’t appreciate the process over several days when it’s filling up–I get Full Moon Fever (mood swings and nightmares). Blessings on your day, Ivor.

    1. Thank you kindly, Nancy … I supposed I’m an avid moon watcher who appreciates the significance of our sky’s silent saviour and guardian β€¦πŸŒ–πŸ˜πŸ€—πŸŒπŸŽΆ
