Tired, Wrinkled, and Wordless

Tired, Wrinkled, and Wordless

I’m too tired to wiggle my toes
And pack my wrinkled clothes
I’m wordless at the moment
My thoughts are on postponement

I twist and roll over
Music wiggles inside my head
My somersault of dreams
Wrinkles my bedspread
Upside down
Tiredness falls out of my seams
Words tumble around
Nameless titles and endless tunes abound

A new moon’s brewing
Singing the blues,
Over my empty town
I twist and roll over again
I’m back where I started,
I hear my angel humming, Hallelujah

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Your poem gave me a good chuckle, dear Ivor. I am a champion sleeper; very little keeps me from falling asleep and staying asleep. I may not sleep long but I sleep well. Except for the past two nights because of this damn prednisone I’m taking for a torn tendon in my wrist. My brain cells are doing a jitterbug and show no sign of slowing down. Thank goodness for dictation! Have yourself a wondrous sleep tonight, dear Poet. 😴🛌🎶💙

  2. Aw. I hope you get some good rest AND good sleep over the next few days, Ivor! Please keep making that a priority. Love your title! We all have THOSE days. 🙂
A perfect poem that has clever word-pics, relatable emotions…’tis brilliant, and marvelous! It made me smile and giggle as I have “been there/done that/felt like that”.
A song that is always heart-touching and soul-encouraging! 🙂 (Thank you, Mr. Cohen! 🙂 )
