Standing on Familiar Ground

Standing on Familiar Ground

Here
Standing on the land of old
Overlooking a meadow of green and gold

Where
Familiar magpies fly around
Above their native ground

Now
Feeling my travel, weary bones unfold
Upon my home’s welcoming threshold

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Familiar ground is always nice. 🙂
OH! Your photos are so beautiful and they make my heart so happy! 🙂
A relatable poem! So well expressed! Perfect duet with your photos. 🙂
A fab song by a fab group! Yes, no backing down…keep standing your ground. 🙂
After I travel, I always tell people I need a vacation (at home) to recover from my vacation (away from home)! 😉 🙂
Keep taking one day at a time, Ivor…getting rest and letting Frankie take care of you. 🙂
    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️❤️

    1. Frankie is loving all the extra care and attention that he’s getting while I’m recovering … Oh, I did so much while I was in Canada, and I’ve still so many picture stories to tell. 😊💚😍💛✈🐶🌏
