Throwback Friday, Intertwined

Recently, the theme of most of my poems has been nature. Today’s Throwback Friday poem, written in September 2021, was also a reflective poem about nature.

“After you have exhausted what there is in business, politics, conviviality, and so on – I have found that none of these finally satisfy, or permanently wear – what remains? Nature remains.” ― Walt Whitman

Intertwined

Why are we deaf and blind?
How can we be so silently unkind?
Nature is not our kitchen to be redesigned

Mother Earth is our holy shrine
Our one and only protective rind
All we need is her love intertwined

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. So powerful and important and ponderful, Ivor! I wish every person on planet Earth could read this poem! I wish humankind would realize how vital it is for us to care about nature!
And your photo, song choice, and Mr. Whitman quote are so fitting with your poem!
(((HUGS))) and please give Frankie some pats of love for me! ❤️❤️❤️
