The Animals – Final Curtain Tour at Her Majestyโ€™s Theatre, Ballarat

Last night, my sister and I had the pleasure of attending The Animals at the grand old Her Majestyโ€™s Theatre in Ballarat. First opened in 1875, Her Majestyโ€™s remains Australiaโ€™s best-preserved theatre building โ€” a living monument to Ballaratโ€™s rich cultural heritage. It has served as the cityโ€™s home of live performance for nearly 150 years, and its ornate charm made the perfect setting for a night of rock nostalgia.

The Animals have thrilled audiences across generations, and we couldnโ€™t miss their Final Curtain Tour. The current lineup features original member John Steel โ€” now 84 and still commanding the stage โ€” alongside Danny Handley, Bobby Ruiz, and Barney โ€œBoogieโ€ Williams. Together, they delivered a powerhouse performance that had the crowd on their feet, singing along and soaking in every note.

From gritty blues to timeless rock anthems, the bandโ€™s energy was infectious. It was more than a concert โ€” it felt like a farewell embrace from legends whoโ€™ve shaped the soundtrack of so many lives.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. YAY! What fun! I’m so glad you and your sister got to attend and enjoy the show! ๐Ÿ™‚ I love live shows! And some of the well-seasoned (older) performers, and bands, are the bestest! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. You look good with blue hair Ivor ๐Ÿ˜ I was thinking of going to the show up here but with only the drummer left, I wasn’t enthused. Hank B Marvin moved to Perth when he stopped playing
