Petrified Air

Even in poisoned skies, the crows persist. A silhouette of survival β€” sharp, black, and unyielding.

Petrified Air

Is that coal dust
in my eye?
Or have the dark clouds
begun to cry —
About our polluted sky?

How shall crows fly
inside our petrified air supply?

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. The animals will, survive, they always do, and it will be us, man, who will bear, the consequences eventually, and, we won’t be as, adept, to, adapt our selves, and we had, brought this, onto ourselves, with deforestation, polluting the, natural, world, because, we are, top, greedy.

  2. ‘Tis so sad and frightening to think about the struggles, and damage, birds, animals, and all of nature are subject to because of the polluted air. 😦
Your poem is powerful and important, Ivor! Your trio of poem, photos, and song/vid choice touched my heart. Thank you.

    1. When I see the birds fly, I worry about them, because I know how polluted the sky is … and I feel that I must keep writing about wrongful ways, Carolyn … πŸŒπŸ’œπŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ¦…
