Featured Image Above: Mid-flight and mildly wrecked—this tiny bird attempts its final rescue, beneath a deep blue sky.”

From dizzy heights to grounded mornings—last night’s revelry left me chasing feathers in the wind. Here’s a tiny bird (Welcome Swallow), a deep blue sky, and a poem that remembers too much red wine.
Over at Weekly Prompts, the Weekend Challenge is the word ‘Excessive’. You can visit their fabulous site by clicking >> Here.
In my poem, I wrote about having an “Excessive” amount of ‘red wine’ at the Event last night …
A Tiny Bird in a Deep Blue Sky
Too many late nights,
Too much red wine.
I consumed too many savoury bites —
Throw me a rescue line
That’s not made of grapevines.
My eyes look like Christmas lights;
I’m getting too old for these dizzy heights.
Oh well, I’ve plenty of time to recover —
Until next week’s Writers party hangover.

Been there a time or two myself, dear Ivor. Cheers! 🍷

Haha! Oh, dear, I hope you’re now feeling better. I stopped drinking almost two years ago. I did dry January for the first time ever, then I extended into February and continued. Here I still am, a few weeks short of two years.

Wow, well done Sue … I haven’t stopped, but hardly drink much at all these days

Thank you, Ivor.
I never intended to stop because I loved my red wine in the evenings. I never had a drink when we went out, I always opted to be the sober driver.
But my sugar levels were higher than they ought to have been, so I decided to have a go at dry January with a couple of family members. I surprised myself because I didn’t miss the wine at all, so I stayed dry 🙂

I started drinking less because I was saving money for my trip to Canada, and now I’m saving up for my next ‘self-published book, “Time Hears No Sound” …

I’m not as young and silly as I used to be … Over the years Nick Cave’s and Leonard Cohen’s, music and lyrics, have been my poetic muse’s …

I can see why that is Ivor 🩷

The older we get, the longer these, “aftermaths” of the parties would drape over us, which is why, we evenutally learn, to NOT party, not go wild like we used to, because, let’s face it, our bodies, won’t allow for it, not anymore!
