Summer Forgotten

A wintry first of December—where summer forgets itself beneath cloud and quiet flight.

Summer Forgotten

December ‘one’ has forgotten to remember
that it is the first day of summer.

Nature’s clandestine cloud-lover
has eloped with the sun’s warm river.

There shall be no supernova today;
even the hardy magpie has run away.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Wondrous weather … the cold is not a pleasure … and I’ve been listening to Sigur Ros music a lot lately; such fabulous moody music to play while I’m writing, Nancy … oh , how is your sore paw 🐾 doing 😍🌏

      1. Sigur Ros is indeed fabulous and I’m so glad for the introduction. Thank you for asking about my sore paw! It’s coming along, slower than I expected, but it was surgery after all and the recuperation is painful. I was fitted for a custom splint which gives my fingers a little more wiggle room and I’m able to do some things although the splint keeps me from bending my hand at the wrist, and that is extremely important. I’ve been keeping up with WordPress by using dictation; it’s a godsend, but it can also be a pain in the neck because it cannot differentiate homonyms and often misunderstands what I’m saying! Still, as we like to say, it beats a blank, I am able to keep up my blogging, and it allows me to stay in touch with all my friends. For that, I’m very grateful. 🥰 🎶 🤚🏼✍🏼

      2. Good to hear you’re coping okay my friend … when my paws got sore I thought of yours … I’ve tried diction, but it doesn’t understand the Aussie accent… 😎😍🌏🎶📘📖💕

  1. Fabulous posting of photos, poem and song!
    I think sometimes nature throws in unseasonal day…like a hot day when it’s supposed to be cold, or a cold day when it’s supposed to be hot….Ha!…just to see if we are paying attention. 😉
    Wishing you two a safe, enjoyable, and healthy summer!
    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️❤️
    PS…we are having a cold season with lots of rain and some snow. 🙂
