Why Worry?

Gigi’s poem >> https://gigisrantsandraves.wordpress.com/2025/12/30/have-you-noticed , opened a familiar ache — the sense of being small inside a vast, grinding system. This poem rose from that feeling, with Lisa O’Neill’s “Rock The Machine” humming at its edges.

Why Worry?

Government – Corporate piracy –
Rife everywhere in our binary society.
Ironically, our privacy is *actively*
The policy of every dynasty’s refinery.
Corruption: slavery, bribery, impiety.
And privately, I worry about the impropriety,
The calamity’s spidery finality.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. I feel the world has taken so many steps backwards. 😦 And the supposed steps-forward are not at all what people need the most. 😦 Oh…Not sure how to explain it all, but it’s how I feel. I, too, have thought recently about Mr. Orwell’s warnings in his novel 1984. Written so many years ago (in 1949), but so real, too real, today. 😦
I understand Lisa’s song and emotions…a howl of despair but also a cry for renewal. I’m glad up to now, at least, I can still see glimmers of hope in the darkness.
Thank you for this powerful trio, Ivor…your photo, your poem, your song choice.
    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️❤️
