“This morning’s muse — wings caught mid-thought.”

My Journal’s Wings

High above my poetic eye I fly,
where the early birds gracefully glide by
across the bright morning sky.

And in my journal, I pause to ask why
birds become the muses of my word supply—
as if their wings remind me
that thought itself is a kind of flight,
and every line I write
is another way of learning
how to rise.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Such a lovely trio, Ivor…your photos, your poem and that music! 🙂
Oh, I find this poem to be perfection! I brought joy to my heart and tears to my eyes! Keep flying high, Ivor, and keep writing to rising! When we read your words/poems it helps us to rise, to fly, to have hope, to survive, to thrive! I graciously thank you!

    1. Thank you for your ‘high’ words of praise, Carolyn …as you know, birds have always helped inspire me to lift my words beyond my humble beginnings of learning to read and write again after my first stroke, 25 years ago … 💛📘🌏📃🐶💙
