Mystique Surrounds Me

Mystique Surrounds Me

Twilight ignites its shadowed secrets.
Do I fly into the mystique,
where clouds burn like prophecy,
and my wings are ashes of desire?

Will these old, singed feathers
still lift me from this wartorn land—
or must I wait here forever
grounded by this inferno’s demands

“Where light fractures, the will to rise endures.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank you for the classic song my friend … my feathers are already singed so it looks like I’m stuck here on this wartorn desert bowl with that shameless orange troll 🌞😲📖🎶

  1. Your poem touches my heart and soul! I can relate to the emotions and thoughts it conveys. So many people in today’s world can relate.
I think that feathers that feel old and singed are actually so beautiful! They have flown, fought, risen and conquered. 🙂
Ivor, thank you for being someone who remains resolute and brings us hope, joy, understanding, encouragement…and helps replace fear with inner peace.
All of us have the purpose to hang on and use each day to help others who are struggling. 🙂
