To Catch the Wind (a Tanka)

This Tanka was inspired by a moment of stillness and lift — a bird rising into the blue, catching the wind as if it knew exactly where it needed to go. It’s a small meditation on movement, uncertainty, and the quiet hope that carries us toward calmer places.

To Catch the Wind (a Tanka)

Let me catch the wind,
blowing toward the unknown,
where silver seeds grow
beyond the world’s toxic snow,
into peaceful olive trees.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. What a beautiful, serene, hope-giving poem, Ivor! 🙂 Thank you! 🙂
Lovely photos and song/vid, too! I never knew those two singers duet-ed…a treat. 🙂
We all need those joy-and-peace-giving places of “escape” in our day to day life! 🙂

      1. We’re here, and it’s been a long day … travelling from home to my brother’s house in Ballarat, unpack my case, then travel up Clunes to set up my book stall for the weekend, and back to my brother’s for dinner and now I’m resting … it’s only 8.00 pm, but can hardly keep my eyes open, so it’s time for bed to get a big long sleep before I leave to go back to Clunes at 8.00 am 📖📘🌏🐶😊😴
