In keeping with this week’s ‘Anti-war’ theme, today’s Throwback Friday poem (originally written in June 2024) is drawn from my upcoming book, Time Hears No Sound. It appears as a poem in Chapter 8, War: A Waste of Time

And I Wonder Why
On a windless winter morn
I am walking beside the waveless bay
Watching the white wispy clouds
Wandering above the whispering trees
And I am wondering why
Our worried and weeping world
Wantonly wastes time
On unworthy and wearisome wars
“Esmerelda”, a wonderfully dramatic song by Ben Howard

The world is wonderful … except for the human’s silly warring ways and destructive bombs and bullets 🥰🌏☮️

I think the answer lies in the character flaws of human beings

“I, Can Breathe”
I don’t own much
I don’t owe much
I share what I have
I have hope and love……
Oh, we, the drowned
We, the broken
We, the leftover pieces
We, the peaceful ones
I see their choices
I hear their voices
I am defiant
I, cannot be a tyrant
I, cannot be violent
I, cannot be silent

Sadly, it’s an unanswerable question … but when I’m feeling sad about the world I take a 5 minute drive down to our beautiful Corio Bay and relax and soothe my soul with all the lovely views nature unconditionally and unselfishly give me … 🥰🌏🎶💙

Such powerful, heart-touching, important wonderings while wandering, Ivor. I can relate.
Gorgeous photos…nature is so healing and takes our minds off of the pain and evil for awhile.
That Ben Howard song sure is a heart-toucher song.
(((HUGS))) and ❤️❤️❤️
