Today

Today arrived with a hush, stirring old memories and opening a space to sit with love and loss.

Today

Today,
the misty clouds are not moving,
and my world has stopped rotating.

Today,
time became becalmed
in a blue lagoon
full of my memories and rhymes

Today
I felt her angelic soul reminding me,
“Stay there for a while longer,
let me linger in your loving heartbeat.

I’ll let this song carry the feeling that lingers.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Ivor, this really moved me, especially “my world has stopped rotating,” which feels heavy to me, like everything has paused around your loss.

And “let me linger in your loving heartbeat” feels both comforting and painful… as if she is still close in a different way, I think.

    Much love,
    David
