Chocolates are delightfully delicious β¦ wars are deadly and destructive β¦
Above the valley, a white-feathered messenger rises β reminding us how fragile peace can be
Yesterday we visited the Moorabool Valley Chocolate CafΓ© for coffee and cake, and the moment brought this poem back to me β a piece I wrote in August 2018, when a simple liquor chocolate stirred memories, questions, and the ache of a world still at war.

Eating Chocolates And Watching Wars (Revised)
Hungrily, Iβm eating a liquor chocolate β
a selfish heavenly delight,
arousing my old mind’s senses.
I wonder
what she would be thinking,
looking down from the stars
through her sensitive olive eyes β
her everlasting smile,
her gracious courage,
her generous heart,
her forgiving soul,
her love for me and you.
I wonder
what she would be thinking,
seeing these futile, bloody wars
through her compassionate olive eyes β
the dead and maimed,
the millions of shuffling homeless,
the distraught, broken families,
the crying children locked in sheds,
the desperate refugees with no beds.
I wonder
what she would be thinking
while she preciously
holds the last white dove,
observing these senseless wars
that never ever ends.
And for the song that holds the cracks and the light, here is Leonard Cohenβs Anthem β offered to a world where the last white dove may never fly free again.

I am betting she would be thinking about how disappointed she is in her fellow human much like the rest of us are…. So beautifully stated Ivor….

For a supposedly new age world we are still fighting the crusade from a thousand years ago , except now the stupid humans have digital weapons to play with

It’s so very, different, when we interpret things from a, totally different, perspective, how those who are, no longer with us, see what the world become now, and I am, more than, certain, those who have died, aren’t, “around” to see what this world had, become now… because if they are still alive, they would all surely, feel, upset, depressed, and, troubled, like many of us are, in these, situations.

Such a meaningful poem…still. Also, still powerful and heart-touching.
Beautiful photos! Powerful song.
I know those we love who have passed on before us would feel the way we do if they were here today. And I know they would encourage us not to give up…to keep moving forward and doing what we can do to bring about peace in this world.

Ivor, I liked how you showed a woman in the stars looking at our wars with sadness while still holding the last white dove and keeping hope alive. ποΈ
