An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
Winter Sunshine
This afternoon I found myself at the calm centre of things — winter draped itself lightly over the café, letting the sunshine linger just long enough for a quiet moment to unfold.
Winter Sunshine
I’m on the axis of my universe, here in the middle of our cafe, at the centre of this old town — it’s our time to relax and calm down.
We’re midway beneath winter’s hemline; the wind is cold, but the day is fine. The larks are enjoying the sunshine, and I’m sipping a glass of red wine.
As the winter light faded and the sunshine slipped away, the music left its own warm shadow behind.
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Blanketed in the warmth of a glass of wine, Frankie’s sweet company, inside the lovely café…sounds like a fabulous way to spend a cold windy day. 🙂
(((HUGS))) and ❤️❤️❤️
PS…On a cold winter day, the shining sun is so welcome and so enjoyed. 🙂

Perhaps I could interest you in an exchange of some warm/hot air for some colder/frigid air? 😇

Great article! I’ve been publishing articles on philosophy and literature on here if you’d like to check it out. My most recent one discusses language, https://weurd.substack.com/p/metaphor-is-a-gun-one-we-ought-to
