Flight

Inspiration often arrives unannounced. A magpie in flight, a walk with Frankie, and a handful of daisies beside the track combined to form this reflection on life’s journey. While we may spend much of our lives looking towards distant horizons, fulfilment is often found in the simple moments we pause long enough to notice.

Flight

Life is not about a good take-off
nor how high we are able to climb
No matter how far the journey
There are always clouds in the sky

Life is not about the speed of the flight
Fulfilment is in the grace of our wings
and how smoothly we manage to travel
through the storms that always surround us.

Actually, life is about
taking your doggie for walkies
and noticing nature’s distinguished daisies.

Some journeys climb through clouds, while others lead us home again. This morning’s flight ended beside a walking track, where a magpie, a handful of daisies, and a faithful walking companion quietly revealed what matters most.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.
