Two Crowns

Some evening skies seem to wear a crown of their own. These three photographs inspired a short reflection on the changing shapes of cloud and light as day drifts into twilight.

Two Crowns

Eventide

The sun is settling down
behind the horizon’s heliotrope clouds
draped in ribbons of golden brown

Twilight Time

the clouds are drifting down
over the horizon’s terraced treetops
cloaked by the corpulent sky’s chunky crown

Beyond Time

Nature’s wonders are our world’s comfy eiderdown
surrounding the horizon’s mystical realm:
there endures the planet’s glorious crown

Some crowns are worn for a moment, others endure beyond time. The beauty of our world asks for nothing more than to be noticed.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Lovely poem, Ivor. I saw two fans, and then it occurred to me that birds are lucky to have their own built-in fans to cool them in the hot weather! Thank you for joining in, Ivor. πŸ™‚
