Quintessence
Above my florescent sunflowers Twilight’s iridescent sky Of a pearlescent sunset And an opalescent moonrise Animated my candescent world And the evanescent wave of light Revived my senescent eyes
The ancient wheels of time Have been mysteriously left behind In refuse paddocks of weeds and slime Oh, what a mortifying crime
Has society overstepped the line Spoke-less, with no rhythm or rhyme Have we become deaf, dumb, and blind Unable to handle the future’s slippery climb Without using the New World’s AI design
Today’s Throwback Friday poem is from February 2023 and appears in Chapter 1 of my third book, Until Eyes Hear Sound, titled ‘Little Creatures and the Birds.’ “Birds have commandeered my poetic imagination lately.“
Birds on Fences
What side of the fence do you sit on? Birds perched on fences look down on the earth
The grass is not always greener on the other side Is there ever a winning side or a losing side
Worms burrow holes on both sides Shadows grow longer under the one sun Dawn rises on the dark side and the sun sets on the bright side
Birds on fences know “That the mystery of our universe Can be found in a blade of grass”

Talking to a Restless Moon
On this scorching afternoon I spoke to a restless moon He said, “The sky’s blue balloon has been treacherously harpooned by a scary orange buffoon who openly sucks on his own dirty silver spoon and be warned, no one is immune”
Since then, I’ve been lying low But soon I’ll need to leave my hot bungalow And fly forward to a safer and cooler tomorrow
