Tired, Wrinkled, and Wordless

Tired, Wrinkled, and Wordless

I’m too tired to wiggle my toes
And pack my wrinkled clothes
I’m wordless at the moment
My thoughts are on postponement

I twist and roll over
Music wiggles inside my head
My somersault of dreams
Wrinkles my bedspread
Upside down
Tiredness falls out of my seams
Words tumble around
Nameless titles and endless tunes abound

A new moon’s brewing
Singing the blues,
Over my empty town
I twist and roll over again
I’m back where I started,
I hear my angel humming, Hallelujah

Beyond Mount Kosciuszko

Beyond Mount Kosciuszko

The timeless winter breeze
Is slowly defrosting me.

Quietly, through the misty silhouettes,
And from behind the fairy bushes,
I shall tentatively spread my wings
To find out if my shadows
Can fly high above the local meadows.

Once I am airborne,
I should be able to see Melbourne,
And from there – who knows how far
My dreams will go?

Beyond Mount Kosciuszko,
Across the Pacific Ocean,
Toward Vancouver and Nanaimo.

A Butterfly’s Heart

The Featured Image above is a photo of the Birthday Card that I received today from a dear friend who lives in Selangor (Malaysia), which is on the Equator.

A Butterfly’s Heart

Part I, Heart to Heart

An equatorial butterfly
Landed softly in my hand
Sat upon my sleeve
And looked at me inquiringly
“We need to have a heart-to-heart chat”
Then said
“I’m here to regenerate your wings.
Join me in the sky, and follow your dreams
before tomorrow’s dust, waves you goodbye”

Part II, Dreams of the Heart

I cannot walk the continents
Like the intrepid Marco Polo
But my feet have felt the sands of time
Pass between my toes

I have not sailed the high seas
Like the courageous Christopher Columbus
But my body has bathed
In an ocean full of kind hearts

I’m yet to fly in space
Like the brave Neil Armstrong
But I have reached for the stars
And touched my soul’s dreams

A Crazy Phase

A Crazy Phase

This morning I had a dream.
About flying north toward the sun
and travelling beyond the Rocky Mountains, trees

On my way there,
I dropped in to say hello to the moon
And I asked the moon.
“How do you cope when waning
to that crescent shape?”

The moon smiled and wryly replied
“Do not worry, my friend.
It’s a crazy phase I’m going through.”

Amble – The Boy Who Flew Away
Lyrics:

I’m standing staring at my feet
I can feel the eyes on me
Is that the boy who flew away
I wonder, is he free
I wonder, is he free

One will courage a handshake and smile
And say ‘oh boy, it’s been a while’
Cheeks will turn, my ears will burn
I’ll say ‘oh boy, it’s been a while’

Maybe flying was never my plan
To leave and return an older man
Have you ever thought
You pushed me away
I’m home now, with no place to stay
I’m home now, with no place to stay

Luke talks about lost and found
Maybe he meant found and lost
On Sunday eve, we’ll kill a calf
And deal with the family frost
And deal with the family frost

Luck will fall and ice will thaw
For the boy who drew the long straw
Bridges mend, and time is your friend
And home now will be Lán le Grá
And home now will be Lán le Grá

Maybe flying was never my plan
To leave and return and older man
Have you ever thought
You pushed me away
I’m home now, with no place to stay
I’m home now, with no place to stay

I’m standing staring at my feet
I can feel the eyes on me
I’m the boy who flew away
The boy who’s longer free

Sails and Wings

Sails and Wings

The local yachts
are out sailing on the calm bay
The coastal birds
are flying above the cool seaspray

I sense it is nature’s way
of reminding me about my dream
To clip on my wings and fly far away
Toward the northern hemisphere
and visit my cousins on Vancouver Island

A Blade of Light

Please Note the featured photo and attached photos above are taken from Street Art in the Geelong CBD

A Blade of Light

Far beyond my darkest night
Clambering out of purgatory’s deepest void
I grasp onto a single blade of light
On the edge of my soulless asteroid
Who rescues me from Armageddon’s endless fight

Awaking in a pool of sweat, just after midnight
This meaningless nightmare gave me a hellish fright

Floating In Exile

Floating In Exile

I am flying inside a dream
somewhere between
twilight’s dark indigo sky
and earth’s blackest ocean

I see a grey horizon
floating in exile
upon a moonlit lagoon
without a compass or a sundial

meanwhile
swimming across the Nile
they refile my profile
from butterfly to freestyle

then I wake up inside a crocodile
and wonder, have I the guile?
to walk another mile
toward the exit turnstile
