No Poem Today, Xavier Rudds in Geelong and I am going to his Concert

Xavier Rudd is touring Australia and Europe in celebration of the release of his 10th studio album, Jan Juc Moon.

The wind blows strong though Xavier Rudd’s tenth album. It’s a recurring image that speaks of wide-open space and the awesome natural elements that shape it: a force far greater than us, but ours to harness if we take the time to learn, reflect and respect its ways.

“It hit me last year when I started to write Stoney Creek,” the Australian roots journeyman says of the album’s first, exhilarating single: a rolling acoustic balm of a song that finds refuge in the simple blessings of rest, companionship and belonging in a world gone crazy.

“We were on a trip north to the Cape and the wind was blowing too hard to take the tinnie out to the island… As I contemplated everything in my life and what was happening in the world there was literally a strong southeaster blowing, all the time. It felt like a wind of change, literally, in so many ways.”

The wide-open space he’d found himself in — the great COVID silence — was both beyond his control and curiously in-sync. The break accelerated a return to the solo mode of creation that first led the barefoot multi-instrumentalist on his phenomenal journey.

“Very excited to get out on the road and share this new record and live show that I’ve been working on. Australia first and then back out in the big wide world, the world needs music and I’m ready to share.”

Nature’s Heartbeat

Misty rain streaks down my cheeks

And gentle droplets play life’s symphony on my roof

Reminding my soul that I exist, so meek

Humbled by the sound of nature’s heartbeat

I shall continue to follow her melodious proof

The dark clouds part during my day

And the lifting fog pours me a rainbow beam

Reminding my soul, why I love, and why I stay

Honoured by the strength of nature’s heartbeat

I shall continue to follow my dream

The Peace Dove Continues to Sing

The Peace Dove Continues to Sing

To the moon I am calling

Please do not stop shining

Upon our dark failings

Where are we going?

We can be anything

Can we be everything?

The sun’s golden bowstring

The clouds rainbow swing

A penguin’s happy wing

An owl’s nightly hooting

He, who knows everything

And tells us nothing

While the peace dove continues to sing

Daily praise for Martin Luther King

Lost, Without a Compass (I’m lost for words)

Here is a poem I wrote 2 years ago after Trumps devisive and undemoncratic tactics during his USA election campaign … but “today” for a different invasion of “injustice” my poem seems to be appropriate again ….

“To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity.”
Nelson Mandela

“If you want to improve your quality of life and the quality of life for all women, never stop questioning society or calling for change.”
Justina De Pierris

Do Not Quote Me?

This poem is not really a poem, but a poem made from some of my quotes that I have occasionally posted here on my site, and the creating of this collection/poem was prompted by Derrick Knight’s, Feature Image Above >> and you may visit his site via this link >> https://derrickjknight.com/2022/06/24/too-close/

Do Not Quote Me?

“A poet following a poet, gives you poetry in motion”

“The tunnel is growing wider

The light is glowing brighter”

“He who worships from the tallest tree,

should be weary of the broken branches he trod on below”

“Stories emanate from the heart. Literature lives in every heartbeat “

“Not all literature is perfect, none of us are perfect”
