An Ion-less Atom (a Tanka)

I am one human

Why are you so inhumane?

Can you see the light?

Shine over humanity

You! One ion-less atom

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. A sad, powerful, important poem, Ivor. My tears are flowing. Perfect vid/song AND photo (Ukraine’s national flower) to put with your poem. ๐ŸŒป โค๏ธ ๐ŸŒป
Mr. Vincent van Gogh painted a lot of sunflowers and he once wrote to his brother saying, โ€œNothing but sorrow comes out of warโ€ฆthere is only destruction.โ€
Continued prayers and love for the Ukrainian peoples. May the sunflowers always speak of hope, peace, and renewal.

  2. Lovely sunflowers. Let them bloom in profusion in the fields of Ukraine once more! Let the ion-less atom get on his yacht and sail far, far away, never to return! I enjoyed this poem, Ivor. Makes me feel like I just hurled a good insult at someone who deserves it!
