Unforgettable

Yesterday

Was one of those days

At lunchtime

I went to the Box Office Cafe

I forgot

And left without paying

For my coffee and cake

In the afternoon

I had a doctor’s appointment

I forgot

And left without paying

For the Fee at reception

After Dinner

I caught a bus into town

I forgot

That the β€˜open mic’ night

Occurs on the second Thursday of each month

This morning

I watch the sunshine

Flickering on her handmade curtains

I remember

And I relight her candle again

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. These days I tend to forget what I have to do on certain days, unless I write everything down in a calendar. To leave a cafe, without paying for what I have consumed, would be a constant fear of mine too! πŸ™‚

    1. I’ll blame it on tiredness and old age, but as long as remember what’s important to me I’ll be fine πŸ€—πŸŒπŸ˜‰

      1. Maybe we should just accept that increased tiredness comes with old age. Still, some important things in life we can still enjoy without feeling too tired! πŸ₯°

      2. Letting ourselves cope and accept our gradual changes without angst nor disappointmet, and move on to enjoy what we able to achieve is the thing … πŸ˜πŸ€—

    1. Thanks Cheryl .. definitely tire from my hectic few weeks… I’ll be ok after I rest up for a few days … the hustle and bustle of flying and travelling was all very different for me and then there was the emotional excitement of being with my Philadelphia cousins … wow πŸ€—πŸŒπŸ˜πŸ’•

    1. We had a fabulous time together Cindy, but It was very tiring, especially for older ones (me & Terri) … hopefully most of my memory will recover with some rest … πŸ˜πŸ€—πŸ˜‰βœˆπŸ˜΄
