Today’s poem might be the 2nd poem I recite at Geelong’s Lowercase Poetry Open Mic event tonight … or maybe the piece will be too sentimental for me to read …
A Blanket of Golden Sun
Iβm flying above silver linings
Gliding on layers of white velvet
Travelling toward a golden horizon
Looking for her celestial star
Bright as todayβs golden sun
That warm blanket of radiance
Lovingly crafted by her gentle hands
Held together by golden strings
From a softly humming violin
That played our song, βOnce Upon a Timeβ
Reciting the golden hours of our love story
βOnce Upon a Timeβ: our favourite version, sung by Bobby Darin

A beautiful way, to remember someone you loved dearly, and had, lost, she will, always be with you, as long as, you keep her on your mind and, in your, heart…

PS…Mr. Darin does such a wonderful job with that amazing and touching song! When I was a little girl, one of my older sisters introduced me to his music, and movies, and I’m still listening to him all these decades later. ‘Twas so sad he died so young.

An exquisitely beautiful poem, Ivor! Bobby Darin’s song is the perfect companion to it. A touching tribute to Carole. So lovely! β€ β€ β€
I relived the emotions I felt at my late husband's memorial service twenty years ago…soaring joy for his extraordinary life and crushing sorrow at losing him.
