Willpower? (a Tanka)

Dear readers, especially those who frequent my site, you may have notice during the last several months, I have often mention in my poems, that I am very tired … today, after numerous blood tests and what nots, I have been officially diagnosed with “Diabetes”

Late evening, the sun sets, early morning, the sun rises again …

Willpower? (a Tanka)

“Why am I so tired?

What’s the diagnosis Doc?

You’ve diabetes!

That is not good Doc, now what?

Don’t fret, you’ve the will to cope”

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. After taking Metformin for seven years, I have been able to control diabetes without medication for about 8 years by following a low-carb diet. There are also blood sugar supplements that can help. You can purchase them in a health food store or on Amazon. I have my A1C checked twice a year.

Diabetes does not have to mean sticking your finger daily or taking medication. Many medications have unwelcome side effects. Check out Dr. Eric Berg or SugarMD online if it is available there.

Wishing you the best, Ivor! ❤

  3. Oops… No more cake for you then!

Jokes aside, I’m so sorry to hear your diagnosis. It’s not easy giving up the things you enjoy.

My husband was also a type 2 diabetic. It disappeared when his cancer stopped him eating normally and he lost half his body weight. That’s a bit drastic so I wouldn’t advise it!

If recent blood tests are anything to go by, I’m on the cusp and could be joining you if I don’t pull my socks up and watch my sugar levels! I don’t often eat cake and desserts but I do enjoy my wine.

I think you might be my wake up call!

  4. I am very sorry. I hope, you will get along with that diabetes well!
It might help to reduce weight, some forms of diabetes could vanish by doing this – you could ask a medicine about this.
