A Forever Coat, Published in, Write About – Four – Anthology, 2023
December, it’s that time of the year for the release of Anthologies, and here is another annual Anthology that my poems have been published in. This is one has been produced and published by the Belmont Page Writers Group (Geelong) and superbly edited by our convener, Claudia Collins. Two of my poems were published in this fabulously presented Anthology, and today I am presenting the first one “A Forever Coat”.
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

There’s, always that part of love that, we can’t seem to, part ways with, like, losing that item meant, losing the, memories we’d made, with that, certain, someone we have, lost…

This poem is beautiful, sweet, and heart-touching!
Carole’s coat is EXACTLY where it belongs! Plus it is filled with memories and I’m sure it brings you comfort, joy, and strong feelings of connection. Just one more reminder that she is with you in spirit. 💜💜

I’m assuming the gift of the coat was turned down because it’s real fur.
I had two back in the day, but when real fur became the wrong thing to wear and frowned upon, I took them to a jumble sale and ran before anyone could hand them back! 🙂
Congratulations on being published yet again! You are so deserving! My mother’s two mink stoles still hang in my closet, too. Reflections of a different time.
