I Was Just a Stone’s Throw Away

I Was Just a Stone’s Throw Away

I am a rock

circular and flat

or round and fat

either way

pick me up and toss me into the sea

I would skip and bounce

like I was walking on water

and out there, I would be

just a stone’s throw away

from Davy Jone’s locker

however, I will not be sinking

this time!

my shiny carapace is a disguise

in reality

I am a dried-up wedge

an ancient piece of webbing

that King Neptune

once walked on

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank you very much Carolyn … I love throwing those flat shiny stones in the water and and making them skip over the waves … and say to myself “what a clever Little Rock I am” … 🪨😊😍🌏💕📖✍️
