Dry Eyes (a Micro Poem)

The enthusiastic blackbirds
Faithfully re-enact
Their daily rain dance
However, natureโ€™s lingering clouds
Have forgotten how to cry

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Fabulous photos! What a bird! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ™‚ (In your first photo, that bird is like the star on the top of a Christmas tree! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
Powerful, evocative, emotion-stirring poems…Eugi’s poem and your poem, Ivor! ๐Ÿ™‚
Hope more rain falls soon. ๐Ÿ™‚
Ms. Joplin’s music/voice always stirs my emotions, too, and touches my heart and soul. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you for wonderful words, Carolyn โ€ฆ Janis was a favourite of Caroleโ€™s ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ˜ โ€ฆ the birds ๐Ÿฆ… were putting on a show for me, and imagined their flighty tricks to be a โ€œrain dance ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿถ

    1. Oh, Iโ€™m totally jealous, Janis never toured down our way, due to her demise โ€ฆ my poem was totally inspired by the blackbirds (crows) putting on a flighty show me, and poetically I imagined they were doing a rain dance in the sky โ€ฆ there will be some rain next week ๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ˜Š

  2. A delightful poem about our fine-feathered friends, Ivor. Blackbirds are beautiful if you can see them up close. Their feathers shimmer with various colors. I loved Janis, and we lost her too soon. ๐Ÿ’—
