A special poem I wrote, after Iβd taken my Lady to the hospital for the last time, on the day of her 65th birthday, fourteen years ago.Β
Hello Carole, time goes by, and my heart has not moved β¦
Under The Snow
We emanate to a birthday.
We deflate to a final day.
Birthdays, they all come, they all go.
Birthdays, in the sunshine, under the snow.
Birthdays, slow to mature, quickly an eon.
Birthdays, before we are born, after we are gone.
Birthdays, hanging on by a breath.
Birthdays, nailed to a cross βtil death.
What does it all mean to be alive and cry?
What does it all mean to live and to die?

Ivor:
loved those first two lines with their internal rhymes.
And the inspiration from If it be your will by the late, great Leonard Cohen.
The last two lines are awesome and poignant too.
I like the way you ended the poem with those two questions.

A lovely tribute to beautiful Carole! π
Ivor, I hope you continue to be blanketed in her love, comforted by her smile, able to rest in the precious memories, warmed with peace thinking of her laughter.
Happy Birthday to Carole! π
