Nature’s Iris (a Tanka)

As the sky softened into twilight, the colours opened my poetic picture book, and Ben Howard’s “Old Pine” drifted through the moment with the same quiet warmth.

Nature’s Iris (a Tanka)

A crimson twilight
And a seductive sunset
Is nature’s iris
Unfolding my picture book
Where my quiet poems rest

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. In your amazingly beautiful photos I can see your poem! I can see nature’s iris! So encouraging, so hopeful…brings the smiles. 🙂
The chorus of that great song always goes straight to my heart.

    1. One of sunset evenings that I am so fortunate to witness on regular basis here Geelong, and the lovely song by Ben Howard is one of his older ones, but it so suits my poem, Carolyn (((HUGS))) 🎵📘🥰
