Stamped and Dispatched

Gigi, wrote these words

“all of those things
divide us
separate us
they are labels
and we are not merchandise”

Below, is my poetic reply

Stamped and Dispatched

once upon a time
a poet without rhyme
looked up from the waiting line —
the sky whispered its warning:
you were never meant to wear a label,
nor born to be one‑of‑a‑kind

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. We are all, socialized to behave, based off of our race, gender, and other, social values, and, we spend our entire lives, proving to ourselves and others around us, that we are NOT, these, social identities which were, “assigned” to us, and, there’s, NO way, we can, break free on these, attributes that made us into, who we, are, because by the time we realize this, we’re already, TRAPPED too, deep.

  2. Excellent. Important. I can relate to this, too. 🙂
Makes me think of my 3 fave quotes:
“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.” – Dr. Seuss 🙂
“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”- Dr. Seuss 🙂
“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” – Oscar Wilde 🙂
    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️❤️
