An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
The Full Moon and the Corellas (a Tanka)
Please note: All the images are mine and then sharpened and enhanced by Copilot.
Under the full moonβs watch, the Corellas turn the late afternoon sky into a jubilant parade.
The Full Moon and the Corellas(a Tanka)
I hear them squawking As they fly through my blue sky Those white Corellas May look very elegant But they sound like elephants
As a small tribute to Glen Hansard, whose music has long travelled beside me β a voice that rose and broke like birds in the lateβafternoon sky β here is his unforgettable performance of Bird of Sorrow.
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

No shame in sharpening the pictures. Makes them all the lovelier. And as for squawking … that’s the way I sound when I sing.
Lovely poem, and pretty moon and sky. The sound of the birds remind me of the Canada geese that fly over our house each year. ..Wonderful song. I hadn’t heard it before. Sad news, and my son in law wrote a tribute to him, relating of the time he met him years ago, and encouraged him to record ‘Sleeping’. π
A bit of contrast between my whimsy Tanka and the tragic passing of Glen Hansard β¦ he was a favourite of mine and highly regarded in the music industry πΆπ€π₯°πΆπππΆ
i saw him as well, with his band ,the frames, and also with marketa, just the two of them, and absolutely amazing experiences. i love the name of the festival you went to –
What a beautiful pairing of poetry, photography, and music. Your tanka perfectly captures the charming contrast between the Corellas’ graceful appearance and their wonderfully noisy personalities.
The images are stunning, and your tribute to Glen Hansard adds another layer of beauty and emotion. Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt and uplifting post. πποΈπΆ
Thank you very much for your lovely words, Eugi … and Glen Hansard’s is a powerful one from a musician that always sung with great gusto … π₯°π΅π

Oh, I was so sad, and shocked, this past week to hear of Mr. Hansard’s death. π¦ His voice and music brought a lot of joy to my life.
The moon, the Corella’s, beauty, fun, and noise…sounds exactly like a parade! A wonderful parade! π
