The World’s Dulcified Sty

A whisper from the deep past β€” where the earth was whole and the old rhythms still held sway. The music stirs that memory, and the images catch its fading light.

The World’s Dulcified Sty

The twilight sun doesn’t die;
it just goes down to hide
for a bit of shut-eye
and a quiet cry β€”

about the Earth being classified
by those who turn a blind eye
to the world’s dulcified sty,
that continues to be cannibalised
by the corporate blowfly’s
mercenary money supply.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. So very powerful, Ivor, and so timely. We can all relate to the thoughts and emotions expressed in your poem.
    ‘Tis sad that the Earth (and Nature) cares more about, and for, us than humans care about the Earth…and more than some humans care about humanity. 😦
    The golds and yellows in Nature bring me such joy and hope! πŸ™‚ Love the layers of sky colors in your brilliant photos! πŸ™‚
