Last night’s twilight slipped across the sky in muted layers — a quiet blend of fading colour, soft cloud, and the half‑moon’s pale glow behind drifting haze. Standing there with the camera, I felt the day thinning into something slower, dimmer, almost weightless.
From that hush, this small poem emerged — a reflection on how light, taste, and time blur at the edges as evening diffuses into night.

Opaqueness
Time is colourless,
yet daytime becomes darkness
as evening clouds advertise
twilight’s transient demise.
Time is tasteless,
yet midnight is infused with blackness
except for the half-moon’s translucent
loving spoonful of notilucence.
And in the quiet blur between knowing and not knowing, this song finds its way.

Ivor, I love how time begins with no color or taste, but twilight and moonlight slowly bring it to life; I think your “loving spoonful of notilucence” is a gentle and glowing ending!

Oh, twilight time is such a wondrous time of day, and I cannot stop taking photos of what Mother Nature has on show for me, and this little poem fell into place in a short space of time, Carolyn 🌏🥰💙💛🌖📃🌞🐶🎵

‘Noctilucine‘ I had to sit with that word for a moment. The half-moon as a ‘loving spoonful‘ is such a tender way to describe light in darkness. I’m curious though: when you say ‘time is colourless’ but then fill the poem with all these specific colors and absences of color, are you suggesting that time itself is invisible until we witness it through something like a murmuration or a moonrise?
Like we can only see time through what it does to light? 💙
Such a beautiful way to put across everything Ivor.
Loved it !!

Thank you for your thoroughly wondrous comments … and I’m always trying to define time, and I find it’s such an indistinguishable substance/artifact to tie down … so basically here I am, swimming around in the universe drowning in a void of colourless time, or perhaps we’re all blinded by the luminosity of time, and the only way to catch a piece of time is on the tip of our taste buds … haha, I licked my digital clock …yep, nothing, it was “tasteless”
