Out of the Blue

From yesterday’s crow encounter, a poem emerged — a moment on the country’s edge, a sentinel shaping the sky’s peaceful realignment.

Out of the Blue

Upon the country’s outpost I stand,
a sentinel, overseeing this grand land.

I pause, breathe the whistling wind,
and unfurl my black feathered skin.

My wings flare out toward the light —
the world’s warring blight
is nowhere in sight.

Tranquility is my chosen line —
one sweep, the silent, sunlit sky is mine,
and out of the blue, nature’s shrine
peacefully realigns.

“A final breath of blue sky carrying the crow’s peaceful realignment into sound.”

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Ah, in my draft the last did end with ‘divine’, but then I rethought things and changed the line into 2 lines, so it became a more interesting finale
“and out of the blue, nature’s shrine
      peacefully realigns.” … 🥰🌏📖💙

  1. “A sentinel perched on the edge of everything and in that one sweep of wing, the whole world stops its warring and breathes. Ivor, you’ve caught that moment where a crow becomes a prayer. The sky realigning through one bird’s grace. Beautiful. 💙

    1. Thank you so much for your wonderfully thoughtful interpretation, and yes, that’s exactly the imagery I was trying to create … I think of birds as our sky’s guardians and observer’s of wayward ways , Khadija 🌏💙📘
