I See You Now, Fifty Years, Today

Fifty years feels both distant and close, a milestone carried quietly through my days.
Some memories soften, some sharpen, but one truth remains β€” I still see her in the small moments, in the quiet spaces, in the light that lingers.
Today, I honour that presence the only way I know how: with a few simple lines.

I See You Now, Fifty Years, Today

A day I celebrate every day β€”
every day, walking my narrow path,
I see you now.
Every day, looking into our misty mirror,
I see you now.

Fifty years, today β€”
every night, in my dreams,
I see you now.
Every night, in the stars.
I see you now.

I am here,
you are where you are.
One day, my dear,
I’ll join you in the stars.

A song that echoes the way I still see her β€” in dreams, in stars, in the quiet of today.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. The sun is shining, a morning walkie for me and Frankie, then to the cemetery with flowers for Carole, down to the Cafe for a nice lunch and 2 glasses of red wine 🍷 (one for her, one for me, she liked a red wine with her meal), the Cafe crew are expecting us, and we’ll stay a while, I’ll write some words, while Frankie is thoroughly spoiled by everyone at the Cafe … Frankie will be happy and I will be smiling … memories are wonderful things to enjoy … thank you for all of your warm wishes, Carolyn πŸ₯°πŸ’•πŸŒπŸ’™πŸŽΆπŸΆπŸ·πŸŒž

  2. Despite how we may be separated by heaven and earth from our significant other, what keeps them alive is the memories we made together, and that is more than enough, to keep the reminders of us loving them so dearly, alive, and that is, enough.

  3. This is so tender, Ivor πŸ’™ “I see you now” carried through fifty years says everything words alone couldn’t. Wishing you a beautiful day with Carole in your heart, Frankie by your side, and a glass of red wine raised for her too.
