Every now and then, a story slips quietly from the page and begins a journey of its own. A Pigeon’s Lament started as a brief piece of micro-fiction, yet it has since been accepted by Geelong Cereal and will soon be making its way onto community radio. Before this little pigeon heads out across the airwaves, here’s the tale that started it all.

Author’s Note: I’m delighted to share that Geelong Cereal has accepted A Pigeon’s Lament for publication. I’ll also be reading the piece live on Pulse Community Radio 94.7 FM on Friday evening.

A Pigeon’s Lament (Micro-fiction)
Sitting alone atop this broken wooden fence, I stare into the blinding sun that floods the great blue yonder, wondering if the horror has finally gone. Are we carrier pigeons free to ride the airwaves again, or has the world turned us into couriers of foreboding danger rather than bearers of faithful hope?
So the pigeon waits, watching the horizon and wondering whether the horror has finally gone. This beautiful song provided both a title and a mood for its solitary vigil.

Your up coming radio broadcast reminds me of the time when my dad used to record local short radio broadcasts to help advertise his services as a Chiropractor. 😉

Let’s hope that’s not the case. This is so lovely, in a sadly musing sort of way. I’m enjoying my subscription to Geelong Cereal. Wonderful song choice, my dear friend. 🎶🥰💙

OOH! Congratulations, Ivor! This is so wonderful! I’m so excited for you…and so proud of you!
You know I always wish for more and more and more people to be able to read/hear your poems!
This poem is powerful and so important! I hope it enters many ears and leaves a lasting impression! 🙂
Words are amazing…they can give people a new perspective, make them think, challenge them to change, heal their hearts, make them feel less alone, encourage them, and so much more!
Your poems do all of that and more, Ivor! 🙂
Oh! Have you ever been on the radio before?!?
(((HUGS))) and ❤️❤️❤️
