Nature’s Pink Matinee (a Tanka)

Another pink twilight this evening reminded me of a tanka I drafted some months ago. As the colours gathered across the western sky, it seemed the perfect time to finally share it.

And here are last evening’s twilight photos

Nature’s Pink Matinee (a Tanka)

A pink twilight sky
We, the fortunate witnesses
Stand here wondering
Why nature’s matinee shows
Are never on earth sold out

Tonight’s audience may have been small, but nature’s performance was unforgettable. 🎵🌸

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Oh my! Awesome is the first word that comes to mind. This is a sight of biblical proportions; we are truly blessed to be witnesses of such majesty. Indescribably beautiful, but your lovely poem certainly does it proud. Gorgeous verse and view, my dear friend. 🥰🙏🏼🤩
