Throwback Friday, Hope After Babylon, by Ivor Steven

The article I posted on “Go Dog Go Cafe” today >> a special poem from my book “Tullawalla”

ivor20's avatarGo Dog Go Café

I am proud to present another poem from my book “Tullawalla”, Hope After Babylon, which I originally wrote on August 29th 2019.

Hope After Babylon (Tullawalla, page 146)

Distant love is a hidden pain

Caught in the shadows of moonlit rain

I walked away yesterday

And I sing in harmony today

Beyond the blue horizon line

Loyally, in due time

I shall touch the unreachable

And find my star’s cable

We the desolate, keep hanging on

There has always been hope after Babylon

Then we must let go to stop the bleed

Allow a next dancer to take the lead

Honesty in true love is hard to find

Thetruth of love is like a gold-mine

I’ve stayed in silence for many years

Eventually, my silence grew wings made of tears

And soared above my fears

True love under the stars

Remains in my memoirs

Herculean Moon

The Wednesday challenge on Weekly Prompts is; HERCULEAN. Please go over and visit their fabulous site by clicking on >> Here , and below is my response to the prompt.

Herculean Moon

On a motionless silent night

There.

From beyond the dark evening clouds

The Herculean moon stoically glowed

Upon the forest’s swaying silhouettes

Stealthily shedding enough silvery light

To illuminate the ancient gatehouse

There.

From below the mystical pathway home

Perceptions is Here!

This morning my Publisher/Editor, Judy, delivered a large box full of “Perceptions” books to my front door… and the final product has far exceeded my expectations. I had a few tears of joy run down my face, so I thought the poem “Sogginess Sets In” would be appropriate for my post today.

Cloudless and Clueless, a Haiku

The clear blue skys of summer seem to be inspiring my writings lately ...

Cloudless and Clueless, a Haiku

Beyond vacant sky

Infinity outlives time

Why does greed survive?

Crisscross (a Tanka)

Crisscross (a Tanka)

The deep blue sky-ways

Magnify intrusive wires

Artificial lines

Crisscross every horizon

But nature holds the power

Perceptions

Thank you to Derrick for his fabulous article today …

Martin’s last task yesterday before he left for the weekend was to

most carefully post out the levels of the patio, ensuring that there was the requisite minimal slope for draining off any excess water. Now we await delivery of the stone.

My blogging friend, Ivor.Plumber/Poet has, for many years, been accumulating a ‘Derrick file’ of photographs which he occasionally uses to illustrate his posted poems. This Christmas he has produced

which arrived a couple of days ago. The artistic covers, by the poet’s American niece, thus linking three continents, are based on my photograph which provides a frontispiece.

Three of the photographs are by Jackie. This double spread gives a flavour of those and of Ivor’s poetry.

My author photograph, taken by Becky five years ago, appropriately also shows my wife.

This evening we dined on lemon chicken and Jackie’s egg savoury rice with which I finished the Gran…

Standing On the Edge of Time

December is here and the final monthly colour challenge for 2022 at Weekly Prompts is – Pinkish. Please go over and visit their fabulous by clicking >> HERE

Featured Image Above; ‘Weird/Wonderful’, a painting by Geelong Artist Wendy Ratawa, which was this weeks Geelong Writers Inc. Ekphrastic Photo Prompt, that subsequently inspired my colourful poem.

Standing On the Edge of Time

Am I dreaming

Sprawled across Saturn’s rainbow rings

Wishing

I was there

On the edge of Jupiter’s

Multicoloured volcanoes

Observing the chromatic universe

Through my kaleidoscopic eyes

I am here

Standing on the edge of time

Above Tower Hill’s dormant crater

Overlooking a picturesque valley

Of blue lakes and

Multicoloured forests
