A Universe Above The Sky

Walking in the rain

Wearing water-logged boots

I am dodging millipedes

And hopping over puddles

With the footpath crickets

I see a universe above the sky

As the liquid clouds

Drop their weight

Upon my empty hands

Filling them with verses

Of memories and rhymes

Rolling On By (Revised)

I wrote this poem while I was on a Pacific cruise to the New Calendonian Islands, in April 2018. We only had one rough day, but that managed to influence me enough, to pen this dreamy piece that night …

Rolling On By

I am swishing and swirling

splashing and crashing

up and down

I am thrown aground

stumbling around

swaying under her calming horizon

she soothes my rough landing

caresses my awakening eyes

dazed, I knowingly smile

and watch her wings wave goodbye

Fruit Loopy

Early July 2017, my blog/website was only 3 weeks old when I wrote this abstract poem, ‘Fruit Loopy’ … hmmm … and I am not sure what my thoughts were at the time … but I had only been in my new little abode for 5 months, and I was finishing off building the verandah, and starting to create a courtyard garden … I suppose I was “dreaming” about how much Carole would have loved my new home, so hence the “funny title”

Fruit Loopy

The juices of expectation

are upon me again.

Dreaming of yesteryear

and clambering for today.

Through my pores

a taste of sweetness.

My apple of love

the fruit for tomorrow.

Cosmic Eyes Are Watching

Look above the ugly pylons

Away from that slimy Russian python

Beyond those strangling power lines

There is a luminous cosmic sign

Piercing our dark thunderous skies

Wearing an ancient peacetime disguise

In a temple full of untainted eyes

Anticipating the worlds next golden sunrise

Love is Not Declined

My internal battle is never ending

Neither won nor lost

My opponent is my ghost

I forgive with the morning dew

And my regrets are few

There is two breaths in every moment

The first one kisses our heart

The second breath caresses our soul

True love is hard to find

And impossible to define

When found, be exceedingly kind

Love can spellbind your mind

But blindly, love is not declined

Ex Comes Before Why

Do you get caught staring?

At an unknown person

Who returns your stare

With an angry glare

Sorry!

I was daydreaming

Inside an empty vortex

You were not in there

Nor next

My vacant gaze

Was mindlessly waiting

For my sparkling mirage

To turn into Cinderella’s carriage

Or am I?

The next ex

Before the why

A Hard Floor

Today I am presenting another poem that I wrote while attending a “Writing Circle” Zoom meeting on Sunday morning, hosted by the talented and gracious, Ali Grimshaw … If you are interested in attending one of her fabulous on-line “Zoom Sessions”, you can visit her site by clicking on this link

A Hard Floor

Storms rush in, then go

High seas and undertows

My chaotic fears on show

Before the final covering snow

I will sit and hibernate

Here on a hard floor

While wintry months

Await the thaw

Only to find the exit door

Opens onto another hard floor
