Nancy’s “Feeding Time” post from last week sparked this limerick. A stray comment of mine turned into a tiny blues riff about Billy, the old goat who can’t keep out of trouble. Nancy >> Feeding Time – The Elephant’s Trunk
Old Goat Blues (a Limerick)
Billy the silly old goat Instead of his wild oats He ate the old leathery shoes Now he needs a glass of booze To clear his sole full throat
And because Nancy’s goat set this whole thing in motion, here’s a porch‑blues groove with just enough swagger to keep his hooves tapping.

Today was the ‘Dome Poets’ Christmas Break-up Brunch, at the “Box Office Cafe” and the fun assignment for members was to write a short poem, anecdote, or limerick about individuals within the group.
The Collage Below is a collection of the anecdotes and limericks about “me”, written by my “Dome” poet friends and recited at our Christmas break-up gathering.

As many of you know, I am an appointed writer with the Coffee House Writers Magazine in the poetry section, and in the poetry group, we are given a monthly assignment on a different poem format. This month’s poetry classroom topic was to write a ‘Limerick’ … Below is the Limerick I presented for my July Assignment.
Resting here on my knees Under the tall weeping trees Waiting for my anxious mother She’s out looking for my silly brother He’s randy and went chasing the pretty fillies
Today I am presenting another poem that will be appearing in my new book “UntilEyes Hear Sound”. The ‘Limerick’ is also a relatively new poem format for me, and “Who Has the Foggiest” is a poem I wrote in May 2022, and it will be the opening piece in the ‘Other’ section ofChapter 10. Short Poems: Haiku, Senryu, Tanka, and Others

On Tuesday 12th, it was ‘World Limerick Day’, and to celebrate the day I wrote this Limerick….. I do enjoy writing Limericks, but I don’t usually post them on my site, so while I’m taking a rest from serious writings/poems, I thought I’d present this one today.
