No Connection, or Seven Rhyming Couplets

Still offline, still smiling. While the internet takes its sweet time returning, I’ve tapped out a whimsical little poem on my tiny iPhone screen β€” a lighthearted look at my ongoing battle with the great digital void. Hope it brings a grin.

And fittingly, as this article goes live, I’m pleased to announce that my internet connection has finally returned.

No Connection, or Seven Rhyming Couplets

I’m in isolation;
I have no internet connection.

Now falling beyond day five,
without my writer’s bee hive.

ISP could not solve the problem –
oh, what a sad conundrum

There’s a frog and toad
on the outside pole’s naughty node.

Linesmen, trucks, and ladders are required;
I’m frustrated, tired, and uninspired.

Might be fixed in another 48 hours …
plenty of time to pluck more moonflowers.

Now climbing into day seven,
I’m sailing up the internet’s stairway to heaven.

And now, with the moon back in view and the wires behaving, here’s the song that carried me through.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. I feel your pain Ivor! I was 8 days without electricity- which of course nixed internet connectivity in the early 2000’s and it was like living in the days of the cave man- no stove no hot water- everything defrosted in my freezer- but I read and ai wrote and I read and I wrote some more- and today I look back fondly on that experience- as will you my dear friend.

  2. Fingers crossed you stay connected, Ivor!

    I wanted to tell you, I tried asking CoPilot to sharpen one of my (very!) blurry photos. Wow! That was so much fun! It looks beautiful. Thank you so much for that wonderful tip that I knew nothing about. ❀️

    1. The whole thing was an outside line problem, and it’s good to be back after a such a long down time … great to hear that found how to use Copilot for sharpening photos. I use Copilot for my poem punctuation too …

    1. A longer wait than what’s normal, but going to my Cafe to use their internet was the upside of my down time, Cindy πŸ₯°πŸŒπŸ’»πŸΆπŸ€—

    That time frame was awfully l-o-n-g. And so sorry you had to endure it. πŸ™‚
    But so so SO glad you kept your smile and your patience and poem-ed through it all. πŸ™‚
