Hello, dear readers and followers. As you may know, I stopped producing my โTullawalla Bookletsโ at #31 because that was the house number of our familyโs Tullawalla Homestead.
Yet the booklet format is a superb way for me to catalogue the vast number of poems I produce, and as the saying goes, โI Am Turning Another Pageโ. Here I have begun a new series of poem booklets, called โShangri Laโ, the name of my little Villa, and it is my piece of โearthly paradise, a retreat from the pressures of modern civilizationโ.
I now have โ2407โ poems gathered across these booklets
(On my bookshelf, sits โThe Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson, with 1775 poems โ when I first began writing, I never imagined I would one day surpass that number.)
โLike all my booklets, this one is here to be read at your leisure โ no rush, no expectation, just an open page waiting when you are.โ

Beyond the Midday Moon
The midday moon
is less than 10ยฐ above the horizon โ
low enough
for my weary wings
to fly over.
The morning clouds are dispersing,
and up here, above the moon,
my shadows are free
to echo my dreams.
Between the sky and the moon,
I gaze into their shared light โ
sometimes life is out of sight,
other times everything is alright,
either way, they welcome
my unspoken words,
whether day or night.
A song that drifts in the same strange daylight as the poem โ a quiet companion to the light above us.

Excellent! I asked ChatGPT how to create an original song and I received detailed and easy instructions. This computer stuff is something else, isn’t it!? ๐ค๐ป๐

Thank you for the wonderful, and so happens that I am drafting a moon poem at the moment, Carolyn โฆ
I turn and say to a watchful and perplexed Frankie
โDonโt worry, weโre even too early for the school kiddiesโ
but we are in time to see the moonโs coy white gaze
before sliding down beyond the horizonโs morning haze.
You know my friend, we are incredibly fortunate
to be witnessing such a phenomenal cosmic moment.โ

Between the sky and the moon, I gaze into their shared light, sometimes life is out of sight, other times everything is alright.โ Ivor, that line. That acceptance of both states, holding them with equal grace. Thatโs the kind of wisdom that only comes from 2,407 poems and 19 years of choosing to write through everything.
The fact that you surpassed Dickinsonโs count feels less like a competition and more like a conversation across time, two people saying: we have something to witness, something to say, and we wonโt stop.
Thank you for not stopping. ๐
