Ponds and Puddles

Feature Image Above: Created by Copilot and me.

Three days of steady rain have kept me home, resting and recovering at an easy pace. Between showers, I found myself watching puddles form and rivers rise — and somewhere in that rhythm, this whimsical piece appeared.
Ravishing rabbits waiting to board the Ark seemed the perfect companions for a rainy Sunday poem.

Ponds and Puddles

Splish, splash, splosh —
puddles and ponds,
but no soulful swans.

Sharp, hard hail rocks,
heavy, fat raindrops,
but no wistful wattlebirds.

Rivers are rising,
mudlarks are still flying —
but look,
there are two white rabbits
waiting to board the Ark.

While the rabbits wait for the Ark, I’ll rest here with this gentle song.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Yes, but I’m ok, they call it ‘stroke fatigue’ it comes and goes, anyhow it’s just a matter of resting up , which I find hard to do 🥰🌏📘
