An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
Do Shadows Sleep?
From dawn until dusk, shadows travel faithfully beside us, changing shape with every passing hour. This light-hearted verse wonders what becomes of these silent companions when the sun finally sets.
Do Shadows Sleep?
Shadows eclipse the ground without making a sound.
Dark, silent phantoms of the day, the sun’s prying silhouettes, come what may.
Tall, like a juggler on stilts, or squat like a Scotsman’s kilt.
Tonight my shadow will slip away like a ghost, following daylight’s river toward the coast.
Do shadows sleep, or do they simply follow daylight’s river toward the coast?
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.
